One of the top two zombie genre stories

This series has had me absolutely spellbound ever since I started the first one. The characters are extremely well developed and unlike with most zombie novels, there are just enough characters to not overextend the story. Another great thing about the series is there is a good mix of strong male and female characters and the women in the series are strong and flawed enough to be believable so none of it feels forced. Lily who is one of the leaders in the story grows into her role as leader in a step by step fashion and witnessing her grow makes you care about the choices she makes. The villains in the series are bad to the bone and the author does not sugarcoat their brutality so the bad guys are just as believable as the good guys. This series along with the Mountain Man series are the best in the zombie genre but The Walking Dead series is pure zombies whereas The Mountain Man series includes some other zombified creatures outside of the human species. The Walking Dead Invasion is just as good as the other books in the series and I can only hope that this brilliant author continues on with another zombie novel series once this one is done.

Spoilers: Please help me understand

The book was okay. Not the best of the series. I'm really having a problem with the ending ,though. When Lillie flashes the beacon for the walkers to come to the truck, they all leave Tommy and go. So are we to believe only the trained walkers were the ones all over the harvester? Then, didn't the truck that Lillie and the Preacher were fighting in turn over? So how did she flip it back over,put him on the trailer, and drive it? I'm sorry to be so nit picky, but this is one of my favorite series and I just feel let down by the author.

I felt the writing went a little south in this one. I enjoy the alternative Woodbury story, but had enough of Reverend Jeremiah in the last book. How many times can Bonansinga use the term threadbare to describe someone's clothing?

Hoping the next one has a better story line.

I choose this book for my son, not having a male role model I worry if I'm giving him the right tool to become a man. I find to many are still boys in today's society. I found the I formation very helpful and wish I had read it before I choose who would be his father. Thank you for your endless work, I hope all families would take the time to read it.

Thought provoking

Excellent read. The importance of training your body is one that everyone is familiar with. However, to live with excellence one must also train the mind. The path of our lives is led first by our thoughts. A great reminder that to maintain proper emotional balance which results in a higher quality of life, you must first look at self and your internal dialog. Constantly capturing every thought and filtering it through the proper spiritual perspective.
I enjoyed it immensely.

This is a great book that talks about how to make real men - men who don't have any crazy ideas about their "feminine side" or how they should be apologetic for the way they were born. Chuck has hit the nail on the head and this is a book that everyone should read - those with boys or those who know boys!

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

This book is a serviceable resource for anyone seeking this certification – but there’s some room for improvement.
The good news is that the material is comprehensive. There are approximately 200 multiple-choice type questions designed to test the same concepts that are addressed in the real exam. The layout is basic, but user-friendly. The correct answers and a description of why they are correct immediately follow each question and set of choices. That’s good because it encourages prospective candidates to identify and learn the concept, rather than just “studying to the test.”
However, this setup also has its drawbacks. Specifically, it could encourage some candidates to simply skim through the material in search of the correct answers instead of trying to determine the correct answer on their own.
But if your sole purpose is to clear the certification, then this is where the book scores!!

The authors are well qualified to write this book as they themselves have passed the examination and pass this crucial information on to you.

The author, Edward M. Barrows, has done an outstanding job in walking the fine line between writing for the general reader and the professional in this field. As a reference, it is a "must read" for all.

Without theory, organizational leaders are forced to treat each problem that they encounter as unique–as if it were a first-time occurrence. While leaders may have some experience with a particular issue, their solutions are usually not informed by the accumulated wisdom of others who have already encountered and resolved similar situations.

The authors approach the theory of the organization and administration of colleges and universities from three quite different perspectives, or paradigms, each relying on different assumptions about the “reality” of organizational life in colleges and universities.

The positivist paradigm–primarily an omnibus systems theory–integrates the chapters into a comprehensive, yet easily accessible whole. Social constructionism, the second paradigm, is introduced in each chapter to illuminate the difficulty of seeking and finding meaningful consensus on problems and policies, while also addressing important ethical issues that tend to be overlooked in leadership thought and action. The third paradigm, postmodernism, draws attention to difficulties of logic and communication under the constraints of strictly linear thinking that “authorities” at all levels attempt to impose on organizations.

This “multiple paradigm” approach enables readers to become more cognizant of their own assumptions, how they may differ from those of others in their organization, and how those differences may both create difficulties in resolving problems and expand the range of alternatives considered in organizational decision making.

The book offers readers the tools to balance the real-world needs to succeed in today’s challenging and competitive environment with the social and ethical aspirations of all its stakeholders and society at large. The authors’ aim is to elucidate how administration can be made more efficient and effective through rational decision-making while also respecting humanistic values. About the Author
D. Bruce Johnstone is Distinguished Service Professor of Higher and Comparative Education at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is director of the International Comparative Higher Education Finance and Accessibility Project. Dr. Johnstone has held posts of vice president for administration at the University of Pennsylvania, president of the State University College of Buffalo, and chancellor of the State University of New York system.

James L. Bess is President of James L. Bess & Associates and Professor Emeritus at New York University, where he taught from 1980-2000. He is the author or editor of eight books and over fifty articles and book chapters.

Jay R. Dee is Associate Professor of Higher Education, Graduate College of Education, University of Massachusetts, Boston.

Organization and Governance in Higher Ed Finally Has a Flagship Text

Along with Volume I by the same authors, this text is a must have for higher ed professionals working or studying the organization and governance of our systems. This text is very well-structured and written. For such a dry subject, the authors frame things with case studies and real-world applications so that a student or administrator isn't left struggling to find the ties. I recommend it.

Not a good book for practical nursing

This book is one of my text books for practial nursing. It has been very frustrating to read. The information is not always clear. I have to find other books that will help me to understand the information.

Horrible book

This book is rife with typos and factual errors that make it frustrating to read.

I like the concept of making an easy-to-read, basic introduction to human anatomy and physiology for professionals that need to know the basics but don't have the science background to go very in-depth. I believe that was the authors' intention, but they failed miserably.

I like the images; they are attractive and help make the concepts easy to understand. Unfortunately they are not without their own errors. For example, figure 2-8(A) shows an impossible fatty acid (one of the carbon atoms has 5 bonds).

The thing that most annoyed me about the book (so far) is this sentence "The protons and electrons of an atom always are equal in number, so that the atom as a whole is electrically neutral." (pg. 20) This is so incredibly untrue, it is ridiculous. Ions (atoms that are NOT electrically neutral because they do NOT have an equal number of protons and electrons) are so incredibly important that they are discussed just three pages later.

In all honesty I'm just not that impressed with this book. It is required text for one of my classes and I will use it in 2 others as well. It's just not very engaging to me.

We all need to Get Selfish!!!

My new absolute favorite book. I'm going to buy this for all my friends. Joanna hits the nail on the head, if you don’t change the way you talk to yourself — or continue slogging yourself down with criticism — nothing will change. With every page turn I found myself saying out loud, "OMG that's so true." It made me take a long hard look at myself and has filled me with new hope. The WARNING on the back of the book is SO true, the side effects of this book are happiness and gratitude as I am so happy that I bought it and so grateful to Joanna for writing it. Not only is it a great book to read but it is also beautifully designed. The colours on every page, the inspiring quotes, it even feels nice to hold and fits in my bag perfectly so I can take it everywhere. It's just a beautiful, beautiful book. I recommend this book to everyone, you will not be disappointed.
